3-day Zen and Self-cultivation Retreat with Rev. Takafumi Kawakami Jan. 2020

Description
"Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater."

In the last 10 years, the number of mindfulness-based programs and retreats have increased significantly. The concept of "mindfulness" is applied to everything, like marrige, diet, office work, etc. It has became a relaxation teqnique and method to develop better concentration. In order to make mindfulness secular and "universal," many contemporary mindfulness programs do not include Buddhist philosophy, wisdom and cultural aspects of Asia (including India).

Rev. Takafumi Kawakami often tells his audience that if you practice meditation to feel peaceful and calm, you are simply using meditation (or mindfulness) practice as a painkiller. But there is more to meditation and Buddhist practice, and you can improve your mindfulness practice.

During this 3-day retreat, you will learn how to pratice meditation with the philosophy and wisdom of Zen Buddhism, other Buddhist traditions and other Eastern philosophies. You will also learn how to use the philosopies and practices in your everyday lives. Also, we will discuss about well-being from multiple angles to see if the well-being people talk about today is actually your definition of well-being or not.
